The accuracy of fingerprint readers has increased dramatically in the last few years. Error
rates have been steadily declining as matching and sensor technologies evolve. In addition,
the prices of dependable fingerprint readers have recently decreased dramatically, making this
previously futuristic technology accessible to even casual IT users.

After installing the Ergotest™ Proctor program on their computer, students will be prompted
to enter their thumbprint four times to establish a baseline master. These images are then
encrypted and uploaded to the Ergotest™ web server – no thumbprint information is
actually stored on the student’s computer.
When a student takes an examination, their thumbprint is measured again, and added to the examination
file. When the student completes and uploads the test for grading, this fingerprint
is compared against the four master images on the server to verify his or her identity. If the
fingerprint scans to not match, the student will not be able to access the examination grade report,
and they will be routed back to your institution’s administrators for support.
Simple, affordable, safe, and secure, fingerprint scanning allows your institution to accurately verify
student identity - no matter where your students are located.
